Magnet Maze Blueprints

Updated: Apr 27, 2020

I did a magnet maze activity with my kids using magnetic tiles and cookie sheet and they loved it. It was SO easy and low prep! Many kids are creative and can build with these magnetic tiles independently for a looooong time. For kids who have a harder time playing independently or without some adult guidance, I turned this fun activity into a "Sit Beside Me" activity by making blueprint task cards. I created printable cards designed to guide your child. They use the blueprint of the maze to build their own like it.

Here's what you need to know..

Materials

  • Magnet Maze Blueprints (digital download- 40 cards)

  • Magnetic tiles (3in x 3in work best) Find some here on Amazon*

  • Baking sheet. (10.5 in x 15.5 in works best) Find it here on Amazon*

  • An object to pass through the maze (pom, ball, cotton ball, marble etc)

* As an Amazon Associate I may earn on qualifying purchases.

Instructions

  1. Build mazes for your object on the magnetic cookie sheet with the magnet tiles using the blueprint cards as your guide.

  2. Put your object on your cookie sheet where the green arrow indicates on the blueprint.

  3. While holding the tray tilt it back and forth, side to side moving the pom through the maze until it reaches the stop sign indicated on the blueprint.

  4. Pick another card to build and play and again!

There are 40 cards included. 20 black and white. 20 in color for your child to color match.

They range in various levels of difficulty. You can also rotate the cards around to build the maze from a different view.

I suggest printing the cards on card stock and laminating if possible for longer use.

Click the buttons below to get started!

Why I like it

  • Few materials (many families already own)

  • LOW prep

  • Instant access to the cards

  • Child practices color matching

  • Hand eye coordination

  • It is a guided building activity. Great for the kid that doesn't know where to start.

  • Can be used as a "Sit Beside Me" Activity.

Stay sane mommas. We got this!
